Cat Grooming in Fort Wayne, IN
“Huh! Cat grooming.
I didn’t even know that was a thing. Don’t they groom themselves?”
This is the typical response I get when I tell people what I do. But, before we discuss the how’s and why’s of grooming cats, and why I became the first and only Certified Feline Master Groomer in Fort Wayne, I’d like you to do something for me.
Picture your cat. Now, see the world through your cat’s eyes. You live in the 4 walls of your house 24/7, 365 days a year. You’ve gotten used to that greasy build up on your skin and fur. It may have offered protection against the rain and snow, but you’re fortunate in your life of luxury. And then on day it happens…
…A little tangle by your rear. Then under your armpit. Then behind your ear. And they’re multiplying and getting bigger and pulling on your skin. You know the feeling of that rogue hair that somehow got pulled too tight in a ponytail?
So now, some of you are thinking, “I’ve never had that problem with my cat.” Great! When you work with me you will get an honest assessment of what kind of grooming and the frequency Your cat really needs. And you get an education on Your cat’s skin and coat and what tools and techniques you can use at home to minimize the need for a professional. You won’t find that anywhere else!
BEFORE THE BATH
AFTER THE BATH
“My cat never really was a good groomer.”
The truth is, it’s not really their fault. Here is what you need to know. All cats have oily skin and the barbs on their tongue only go so deep. I didn’t believe it until I shaved the soft hair off my first cat in grooming school and felt its skin before and after the bath. Wow! What a huge difference! And you know what else? The older they become, the more oil their skin produces.
Matts= shedding hair sticking to greasy live hair
Pelts= lots of matts that have grown together
Pelts= prevent the skin from breathing and dead skin and hair gets trapped
Pelted coat before removal.
Pelted coats can only be shaved off in tight pieces. The coat cannot be combed out. Think of combing a felted wool hat.
Underneath the pelted coat is trapped dead skin and clogged pores.
PLEASE READ before you grab a pair of scissors.
A really great hairdresser I know tried to cut out a mat on her cat.
The cat zigged when she zagged, and her scissors left what looked like a tiny knick on the cat’s skin.
But when she let go and the cat’s skin settled back into place on the body, that tiny little knick turned into a big gaping hole.
Cat skin is very thin and not attached to the muscle the way human skin is. Sadly, stories like this are common. Lots of DIY grooming without proper education and guidance results in vet bills, skin glue or stitches, and cones while it heals.

So, what are the options?
Until now your only options were your vet (with a possible extra expense of sedation at $150+) or a dog groomer (IF they groom cats, too).
Take a minute to see this experience through your cat’s eyes.
Carriers. Car Trips. A strange place with lots of foreign smells and loud dogs barking. One or two people holding you down on a table and doing stuff to your body. Loud dryers and clippers and scissors and people talking all around you and no one can tell you what is going on.
This is why salon grooming often doesn’t work as well for cats as for dogs.
I speak cat.
Having attended one of the few schools in the world that offers feline exclusive training in grooming, CPR and first aid, I am one of fewer than 300 Certified Feline Master Groomers in the whole world.
In addition, I offer extensive experience and research in feline behavior and low stress handling techniques. I also use natural products specifically designed for cats.
The best part, I come to you. No carriers. No car rides. I sit on the floor where your cat is most comfortable.
I take the time to earn your cat’s trust and then tailor a gentle grooming experience specific to your cat’s personality and needs.

Fleas & Ringworm – See your vet first. Cats must be treated with a vet approved products and your home must be treated as well. Once the home and cat have been treated, a Royal Treatment can be scheduled to remove the dead fleas, eggs, larvae and flea dirt from your cat’s coat. I cannot risk taking fleas or ringworm into another client’s home or my own. If I am invited into your home where living fleas or ringworm are present, you will be charged up to $200 as I will have to cancel subsequent scheduled grooms while my equipment and vehicle are treated.
